Complete installation guide for Orion OS on the Redmi Note 8/8T (Ginkgo). This guide walks you through a clean flash from start to finish.

Info: Both GApps and Vanilla builds are available for Ginkgo. Choose the one that fits your setup.

Before you start

  • Charge your device to at least 50%.
  • Back up your data — flashing a ROM will erase everything.
  • Have the Orion OS zip and your firmware ready on internal storage.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Install Recovery & Boot

  1. Make sure TWRP or OrangeFox recovery is installed.
  2. Power off the device.
  3. Press and hold Volume Up + Power to boot into recovery.

Step 2: Flash Firmware (if needed)

If you are coming from MIUI or another ROM, flash the latest firmware first:

  1. Go to Install and flash the firmware zip.
  2. Do not reboot yet.

Step 3: Flash Orion OS

  1. Go to Install and select the Orion OS ROM:
    • OrionOS-16.0-Ozone-ginkgo-Official-xxx.zip
  2. Swipe to confirm the flash.

Step 4: Format Data

Warning: This erases all user data. Make sure your backup is safe.

  1. Go to Wipe → Format Data.
  2. Type yes to confirm.

Step 5: Reboot

  1. Reboot to System.
  2. The first boot can take 5–10 minutes — be patient.
  3. Complete the setup wizard and you’re ready to go.
